Clik here to view. Can you believe it? The Great Vegan Challenge 2015 is almost upon us! With just days to go, it feels like only yesterday that I was wrapping up the last one, certainly not eleven months. But what an eleven months it has been.
Since the last Great Vegan Challenge we have seen a flurry of 100% vegan restaurants and businesses spring up across the UK; Ben and Jerry’s has pledged to create a dairy-free version of its world-famous ice cream; Quorn has finally released its long-promised vegan product range; and vegan meringues have taken the world by storm as the new wonder-ingredient that is aquafaba has made such things possible. Only this week we have heard that the World Health Organisation has classified processed meat as carcinogenic, and a study has found that cheese is actually physically addictive. The reasons for going vegan seem to be growing all the time.
So it’s little wonder that more than 1,300 people have signed up for the Great Vegan Challenge this year. And with people taking part from as far away as Nepal, Mauritius, Australia, Norway, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, the USA and Canada, it is a truly global event.
So to everyone who is taking part in the Great Vegan Challenge this year – good luck! And to everyone who isn’t, what’s stopping you?
